Bocce and a visit to the doctor.

Monday,  January 2, 2012

Everyone was back in the cheering section this morning as Bocce continued.  We had taken a day off for New Year’s and now it was time to play again.

P1010959

Everyone is deadly serious.

P1010960 Jeanette.

P1010961 Sandi.

P1010963 Manny and the gals.  He and Sandi won, Brenda and Jeanette didn’t but they will all continue into the next round.

P1010964

Marilyn was just deadly in this game!

P1010965

Fred’s a lefty!

P1010967

I’m not sure Dick’s happy with this shot.

P1010968

Fred, Ron, Dick, and Sam.  Fred and Sam won but Ron and Dick really gave them a run for their money.  Both teams advance.

P1010970

Mary, Rita, Marilyn and Eddie.  They all played a really good game but Mary and Rita are eliminated and Marilyn and Eddie advance.

Later in the day Dennis/Marilyn and Eric and I hopped on the bus to head down to centro to see the doctor.  Marilyn has been having issues with her sinuses and ears and I have been plagued with ongoing muscle and joint pain so off we went.  Dr. Echeagaray has seen Sandi, Connie and Jeri for various issues and they have all been pleased with his treatment and that was good enough for us. Last year he was located in the Golden Zone but has now moved his office into Centro.  Probably not enough of us gringos left to warrant an office in the Golden Zone.

We took the green bus downtown and following directions from people in the park we got off and walked a few short blocks to Dr.  Jorge Echeagaray’s office.  It seems that we were walking along the street of the doctors.  There were clinics, labs and also a Farmacia.  We were a bit early and had time to have a look at the local turn of the century architecture, beautiful but in disrepair.  Very impressive and I should have had my camera with me.  Next time.

When the office opened we had to ring the bell so he could let us in and the door was locked behind us.  A common practice in Mexico.  Marilyn went first and he spent almost 1/2 hour with each of us.  A very gentle caring man who spoke good English so that made it easy.  Marilyn was given the names of the medications she needed and then it was my turn.  We had a long discussion and he  gave me the names of a couple of drugs to try to ease the pain and hopefully convince it to go away long term.  I haven’t been much fun to be around for the last two months and I guess that’s what happens with chronic pain.  As we were leaving Dr. Echeagaray told Eric that he would have a “new wife!”  Eric wanted to know it that was in addition to me and if so, he told him he  didn’t think he could handle two!   Funny.

Marilyn and I picked up what we needed at the Farmacia down the street and we all headed home.  Most of the medications that are prescription at home can be bought over the counter here.  Much more civilized.  Hope it works out for both of us.
